University High Pedestrian Bridge
In 2007, Demaine Partnership were approached by the University High School to design a second storey link between two existing buildings on the school site. The pedestrian bridge enabled the school to connect interrelated spaces without compromising precious open space at ground level as well as freeing up vertical circulation throughout the school. A prefabricated solution was designed, which was craned into placed in its entirety, save for the external finishes. This provided the ideal solution for the school, as the bridge was installed during semester break – meaning that on site impacts to staff and students were kept to a minimum.
