Isabella Gardens
For a prolonged period ACT regulations required retirement villages to be collocated with aged care facilities, resulting in the construction of many villages by not for profit providers that appeared to be an afterthought to the ‘main game’ of a large central nursing home.
The change to this requirement allowed specialist retirement providers to offer a dedicated and more sophisticated retirement product, with Isabella Gardens being one of the first. The village responds to the local demand for larger villas with good garaging, and is anchored by the central clubhouse. A series of courts provide discrete pedestrian access to the common facilities, as well as reinforcing the ‘walkable’ character of the village.
