Peninsula Golf Club - Contemporary Landform Scheme
The 2015 Peninsula competition was unusual in some respects, particularly the club’s desire to explore a range of design options for the site. These schemes, while echoing the broad plan arrangement that was ultimately adopted, explored some distinctly different directions – on one hand a contemporary landform building that envisaged a tight integration of the building and the course, and on the other, a traditional course relationship with the building articulated to frame vistas and provide architectural ‘points of termination’ to views from the course. The traditional scheme also explored the development of ‘transition spaces’ such as deep, habitable balconies and loggias, that were ultimately adopted in the final design.
