EYNESBURY PROJECT WINS
BUILDING AND ARCHITECTURAL AWARDS
In 2004 Demaine Partnership,
working in association with designer Stephen Akehurst, were
successful in a limited competition for the conversion of the
historic Eynesbury homestead and associated outbuildings, for use
as a golf clubhouse.
The clubhouse forms the
centrepiece not only for a new golf course but for the new
Eynesbury township. This township of 3000 homes is modelled
on the urban patterns of a traditional Australian Country township.
The Clubhouse design reinforces this character, with the
homestead, original Stables and Staff wing sensitively converted to
preserve the historic character of the estate.
Demaine Partnership's efforts and
those of the associated team, including Stephen Akehurst, Buxton
Construction, engineering consultants O'Connor
Associates, structural engineers Cardno Grogan Richards,
landscape architects Tract, and heritage consultant HLCD, have all
been recognized by recent awards by both the Royal Australian
Institute of Architects and the Master Builders Assocation.
Congratulations to all involved.

KINGSTON HEATH GOLF CLUBHOUSE
REMODELING PROJECT
Demaine Partnership has been
appointed to undertake the remodelling of the clubhouse
of the renowned Kingston Heath Golf Club. The existing
building embodies many layers of change since the clubhouse was
established in the early 20th century, and it was decided to work
with and build upon this rich heritage. The new complex
will feature new locker rooms, proshop and cluibstore.
Members entering and leaving the course will have direct
access to these facilities from a central landscaped courtyard,
overlooked by an outdoor dining area leading directly to the spike
bar. The striking exposed trussed roofs that are such a
feature of the existing ladies and mens locker rooms will be
retained, and become a feature of the spike bar and the new Heath
Room. The dining areas will be enhanced by provision of a new
flexible function room, all serviced by a state of the art kitchen
facility and new service areas.
Most importantly the clubhouse
will be provided with a new porte cochere entry on the carpark side
of the building, allowing more convenient access but also allowing
the elimination of the roadway that presently separates the lounge,
dining and bar spaces from the course. The golf course will
now sweep up to the building, uninterrupted to the edge of a wide
new verandah give spectacular views onto the course.

WOODLANDS GOLF CLUB TO BE
TRANSFORMED
The Woodlands Golf Club is to
transform it's historic Clubhouse. The alterations to the
existing building will create a new spke bar fronted by a large
external terrace, facing northwards and with a 180 degree panorama
across the course. The design allows the existing dining
areas to be opened up to create large, flexible function areas, and
a new porte cochere on the carpark frontage will allow easy access
for members to all areas of the building. The new areas of
the club will be built over a new basement area containing new
locker rooms, clubstore and general storage areas, while a new
proshop is a feature of the new northern facade of the building.
The historic features of the original clubhouse, designed by
noted architect and associate of Walter Burley Griffin, Edward
Billson, will be retained.
