ROYAL
MELBOURNE GOLF CLUB - INTERIORS
The objective of the interior
design for the Royal Melbourne Golf Club was to create spaces with
a warm, inviting character, and a receptiveness to the expression
of a rich club heritage
Consequently the designs were
guided by the same principles that govern the arrangement of a
large house: spaces that have distinctive character, that can be
used either for formal or informal gatherings, that provide
different settings for different times of year and different
occasions. So there is a formal dining room, an internal Member's
lounge focussed around memorabilia and an open fire, a cosy library
area, sheltered but expansive balcony area, elegant display gallery
with display cases showing a fascinating display of golf clubs of
various eras, grand entry foyer, an imposing Board room with
sweeping views over the courses, and elegantly panelled bar
areas.
