ISSC DATA
CENTRE
A fast track design construct
concept, the ISSC complex was completed in just 230 days within the
fixed timetable and price.
Located opposite the University
of Ballarat, the $12.5 million high security complex provides for
outsourced data processing. It was the largest information
technology installation in Victoria, and the first building in
Ballarat's Technology Park.
Four portal frame buildings were
designed each with a span of 25 metres, which were then connected
with infill structures. This meant builders could start the four
buildings progressively with trades moving from one building to the
next.
The ISSC Computer Centre requires
3,000 kva power supply- enough power to operate a small rural town–
plus generators and uninterrupted power supply systems of a similar
capacity to guarantee operational maintenance 365 days per year, 24
hours per day. All heat generated by the computers is recycled to
heat the total building.
